Video Algorithms Intern, Summer 2026

About the role

As a Video Algorithms Intern, you will join the Video Algorithm team for a 3-month summer internship. You will work alongside the team to improve video quality by combining machine learning models with traditional signal processing approaches. The primary objective is to curate a content database and develop production-ready machine learning models to enhance non-pristine input content prior to the encoding pipeline.

What you'll do

  • Develop machine-learning-based models to improve the quality of encoded video in formats including AV1, HEVC, and H.264.
  • Curate a content database to support the development of production-ready machine learning models.
  • Apply machine learning techniques to enhance input content before it enters the encoding pipeline.
  • Collaborate with the team to integrate machine learning models with traditional signal processing methods.

What you'll need

  • Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, with an expected graduation date of December 2026, Summer 2027, or later.
  • Must be returning to school for at least one semester or quarter following the internship.
  • Strong software development skills, including familiarity with version control, testing, and code review practices.
  • Proven track record in machine learning, video algorithms, video coding research, or related fields such as computer vision or video quality.
  • Solid understanding of machine learning and deep learning concepts, with hands-on experience in training and evaluating models.
  • Fluency in Python and C/C++.

Location & details

  • Location: Los Gatos, California.
  • Term: Summer 2026 (3-month duration).
