We are seeking an Underwriting Specialist in Construction Casualty to work remotely with a focus on our Southeast region.</p><p>In this dynamic role, you will leverage your marketing and analytical skills to underwrite new and renewal Construction Casualty business across the US. This is a market-facing position ideal for candidates with a strong sales execution mindset and a solid understanding of commercial Construction Casualty policies, including a travel requirement of 15%-20%.</p><p>This position can be filled at either the Underwriter level or the Underwriting Specialist level, depending on your experience and skill set.</p><p><b>Key Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>Administer and monitor underwriting rules, insurance laws, and regulations.</li><li>Collaborate with Line of Business representatives to address business-related needs.</li><li>Build and maintain relationships with distributors (agents and brokers) to support business retention and growth.</li><li>Serve as a resource for agents, brokers, and customers, contributing to a strong sales culture.</li><li>Identify opportunities for renewal and new accounts proactively.</li><li>Conduct detailed assessments with key distributors to uncover growth potentials.</li><li>Qualify accounts to align with the organization’s appetite while ensuring sound business opportunities.</li><li>Plan and execute purposeful visits to brokers and customers.</li></ul><p><b>Basic Qualifications for Underwriter, Construction Casualty:</b></p><ul><li>High School Diploma or Equivalent with 1+ years of experience in the Insurance, Banking, Mortgage, Finance, Construction, or Market Facing areas, OR</li><li>High School Diploma or Equivalent with 2+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support, AND</li><li>Knowledge of the insurance industry, legal regulations, and underwriting techniques.</li></ul><p><b>Basic Qualifications for Underwriting Specialist, Construction Casualty:</b></p><ul><li>High School Diploma or Equivalent with 3+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, OR</li><li>High School Diploma or Equivalent with 6+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support, OR</li><li>Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 1+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, OR</li><li>Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 4+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support, AND</li><li>Understanding of legal guidelines and business needs in this sector.</li><li>Experience with Microsoft Office.</li></ul><p><b>Preferred Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree.</li><li>Experience in Commercial Construction Casualty underwriting and broker relationships in the Southeast region.</li><li>Adept at risk assessment.</li><li>Excellent relationship-building, active listening, and negotiation skills.</li><li>Strong oral and written communication abilities.</li><li>Proficient in PC and related software.</li><li>Professional certifications such as CRIS or CPCU.</li></ul><p>Your pay at Zurich is determined by your role, location, skills, and experience, following local laws for fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The combined salary range for this position is $57,000.00 - $117,900.00.
