Role Description The Microsoft AI & Data Platform Engineer (Data Scientist) is a remote, contract role focused on designing, building, and maintaining data and AI solutions on the Microsoft ecosystem. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing data pipelines, integrating data sources, and implementing machine learning models using tools such as Azure Data Platform and related services.

The role involves troubleshooting complex data and infrastructure issues, optimizing data storage and retrieval, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support analytics and business intelligence needs. The engineer will also document solutions, contribute to architectural decisions, and ensure that data platforms are secure, scalable, and aligned with client requirements.

Qualifications

  • Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose, analyze, and resolve issues across data pipelines, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Experience in software development and programming (e.g., Python, C#, or similar) for building data-driven applications and automation.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure concepts, including cloud environments (preferably Microsoft Azure), networking basics, and system performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with databases and data modeling, including SQL and NoSQL systems, for designing efficient and reliable data solutions.
  • Background in data science or data engineering, including experience with machine learning frameworks and AI services within the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with Azure Data Platform components (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Azure Machine Learning) is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and contribute to distributed teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications (such as Azure Data Engineer or Azure AI Engineer) are a plus.
