Local Part-Time 3rd Shift Sortation Forklift Operator Job
Location: Arlington, Virginia, US Compensation: $47,000 – $62,000 per year (approx. $3,900 – $5,200 per month) with 3rd shift differentials. Role Overview
This part‑time 3rd shift position is located at an Amazon Sortation Center in Arlington. The primary duty is to operate Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), such as Center Riders and Electric Pallet Jacks, to move freight across the facility safely and efficiently during overnight hours.
Core Responsibilities Operate Center
Riders or Electric Pallet Jacks to transport palletized inventory, ensuring accurate load placement and adherence to safety protocols. Assist outbound dock teams by loading pallets into 53‑foot semi‑trailers, maximizing truck capacity before dawn. Perform pre‑shift mechanical inspections, checking battery levels, horn function, brakes, and other safety systems.
Maintain situational awareness of pedestrians and other operators, observing speed limits and using horns as required. Communicate with crew and management to coordinate traffic and prevent material back‑ups.
Qualifications Minimum age 18 years. Ability to stand, operate machinery, and maintain focus for a 10‑hour overnight shift. Excellent vision and spatial awareness. Prior forklift or heavy machinery experience preferred; not required—Amazon provides paid on‑site training and licensing. Successful completion of background investigation and drug screening.
